Le Grand Noir Cabernet Sauvignon "Les Deux Aristos" is a smooth, generous French red from the Languedoc-Roussillon in southern France. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Shiraz, it is aged for six months in French and American oak, giving rich blackcurrant and bramble fruit, a gently peppery edge and a subtle hint of vanilla. Its tannins are softer than many Cabernets, so it is silky and satisfying with or without food.

Le Grand Noir was created by wine critic and author Robert Joseph with winemaker Hugh Ryman, working with a group of young vignerons to make wines that are fascinating but approachable.

Tasting notes

• Rich blackcurrant Cabernet with brambly, gently peppery Shiraz
• Vanilla from the oak is present but subtle
